Why Elope in 2024?

Anyone that knows me knows I’m a sucker for an epic romance. Whether it’s an intimate mountain elopement or a simple outdoor wedding – I love it all. When our family moved to Washington and the Pacific Northwest, I was so excited about all the opportunities for incredible elopements, epic locations, and capturing love stories! With increased elopements across the globe, I’ve decided to start capturing them, and I have loved it!! As a PNW elopement photographer, I’m always asked why elope and what an elopement is. Throughout the blog, we’ll discuss why you should consider an elopement, especially if you find yourself in the PNW.

Why Elope? Save Some $$

Traditionally, elopements are smaller-scaled weddings. Couples will often have fewer or no guests and elope outdoors, so there isn’t a need for a venue. Generally speaking, elopements are a lot more inexpensive. Because they are more affordable, couples choose to elope in beautiful places for once-in-a-lifetime memories. They can spend less time focused on how many guests the venue can accommodate and more time on where they want to go and how long they’ll be there. Not to mention, you won’t have to hire a caterer to feed all of your guests, which cuts down immensely on costs! Throughout the planning process of your elopement, things can begin to add up; however, if you continue to be mindful of the budget, an elopement is a great way to save money on your wedding!

Less Stress

Another huge perk of an elopement is less stress! As I’ve mentioned before, elopements are generally much smaller and require much less planning. If you and your partner consider skipping the traditional wedding scene and going somewhere adventurous, an elopement could be perfect! Often, as a PNW elopement photographer, when couples arrive, they are so much less stressed and able to be in the moment with their love. They aren’t worried about vendors and schedules and are much more relaxed! Additionally, not only am I a photographer, but I also have experience as a wedding planner. Elopements do still sometimes require planning but nothing like planning a big wedding! I’ve assisted many couples in planning their wedding and would love to help you with yours. Having a strong vendor with expertise will also alleviate stress.

Why Elope? Focus On What’s Important

When you choose to elope, oftentimes, it’s because you’re looking at the bigger picture. Most couples that decide to elope don’t want a big party but instead want to focus on their relationship. Throughout the experience, they prioritize their love and celebrate strengthening their relationship. Elopements are a great way to create an intimate experience with a few select people to celebrate while exploring a new place or a place that means a lot to you! Sometimes, we can lose sight of the reason behind the planning throughout the wedding process. I’ve found that couples who choose to elope set aside tradition and create memories for them and their future together!

Why Elope? You Want To!!

Lastly, and most importantly, you should elope because you want to! If you and your love share a deep value of adventure and create memories together, an elopement may be just the thing for you! Elopements, just like weddings, can be anything you want them to be, big or small. You can elope on the Oregon Coast with your closest family or adventure to the Tetons for an intimate affair. Elopements are an adventurer’s dream and are filled with so much magic.

If you’ve been unsure whether a traditional wedding is right for you, consider this your sign to elope!
