Painting Pumpkins | Sarah’s Date Ideas | Idaho Wedding Photographer | Sarah Tapp Photography
I’m the youngest child in my family of 6, so this meant that I got to spend lots of quality time with my parents while growing up. Things were a little less crazy by the time I was in Junior High/High School because my closest sibling is 5 years older than me. I loved going on road trips with my parentsĀ and playing games all the time. But one thing that I didn’t get to do with them was go on date night. Every week, without fail my parents would go out on Friday night, just the two of them. I remember a lot of the time they went to the temple or grocery shopping, but sometimes they went out to dinner or a movie. And that had a huge impact on me. So, when my husband and I got engaged, I decided that I wanted to have date night once a week! Phones off, and just focused on each other. One week he plans, and the next week, I plan. We don’t really have money to go out to eat or to a movie every week, so we’ve had to get pretty creative. But we have had some awesome dates! And I’m going to start sharing some of them with you!
Since Halloween is right around the corner, I decided I wanted to do something fun with pumpkins. I looked up a bunch of ideas on Pinterest and found some cute sharpie’d pumpkins. So, we decided to make it a date! We scoped out the cheapest pumpkins and got a few of them. We got ours from Winco, but any grocery store or even a pumpkin patch would be perfect. I think the total ended up being like $6.
Then we took our pumpkins home, washed them off and started coloring! Geoffrey made a silly face and I wrote trick or treat. The sharpies would pretty good, but dried out kind of fast so we had to make sure we had multiple black sharpies. And then we had some black paint lying around so we decided to paint stripes on a different pumpkin! And, there ya go! It was a fun, inexpensive date night and now we are all ready for halloween! =)
