Awh, these Snowy Mountain Bridals were to DIE for!!!! Alexis & Jaren had the idea to photograph at Bear Gulch Trail in Ashton Idaho where Jaren proposed. I LOVE that this location is so special to them and they wanted to take their bridal photos here! Alexis & Jaren met in High School in Blackfoot Idaho at a football game! After the game, Alexis asked Jaren to a girls choice dance but didn’t talk much after that. About 5 years later, they caught up with each other and started dating! The rest is history! Jaren & Alexis love hiking together and the day of the proposal, Jaren said they were going on a short hike. In Alexis’ words, ‘He (Jaren) was super nervous. After hiking for a little, we got to a collapsed tunnel and couldn’t easily go any further. Jaren mentioned he would come here when he was younger for boy scouts. He shared a story of how they would try and throw stones into the river below. I decided I should try and threw a rock down into the ravine. I then said ‘you should try, let’s find a good rock for you’. After some searching, I said, ‘I can’t find one’. Jaren then said ‘I know where a good rock is but I don’t think you want me to throw it’ and then he proposed‘. How cute is that!!!!??? Awh, I just love proposal stories!!!
We were a little nervous that we wouldn’t be able to get to Bear Gulch Trail because of all the snow this winter, but Jaren & Alexis went up about a week before our session and said it was accessible so we decided to go for it! I bundled up and told Alexis to wear sweats or leggings under her dress and snow boots! haha. I hadn’t been there before so we met at a gas station is Ashton and then I followed them the rest of the way. They were doing a first look and said they’d be driving separately but when they got to the gas station, I saw Alexis driving and Jaren was blindfolded in the passenger seat with some neck ties!!!! HAHA!!!! Once we got to the location, Alexis and I led Jaren to the perfect spot for their first look and then she untied the ties. He was shocked at how bright it was and had to take a second for his eyes to adjust! Alexis turned him around and of course he was so excited to see her! He was a little confused though because on the drive, he had felt the lining of her dress and so once he saw it, it was not what he expected! haha.
This couple was SO fun and I loved seeing how they interact together! Of course, the snow was a bit of a challenge. We had hand warmers and Alexis was putting on and taking off her coat the whole time! I was knee deep in snow at times and we had to all make sure that we didn’t fall! But we got some AMAZING photos! At the end, Alexis said ‘I’m so grateful you were willing to do this’ and mentioned that I don’t have very many snowy photos on my website. I told her I just hadn’t had the opportunity yet! I have taken snowy photos but not really in the mountains. I don’t do adventure sessions very often, but I am SO grateful when couples ask for what they want and make it happen! This snowy mountain bridals session was seriously one of my favorites and I can’t wait for their wedding in a couple weeks!
