Every year there is a parade of homes in Idaho Falls. There are several builders that open homes to view like an open house. Tickets are usually $10 per person and at least in this area, it’s always in September. It’s so fun to go and see all the different homes! I usually go with my mom and/or sister but this time I thought it would be fun to take Geoff!
We live in a rental house right now, but we have some serious dreams of building our own home one day. So, it was so fun to be able to go and look at all the different homes and see what Geoff liked and what I liked. And what we hated. haha. I am usually drawn to light and airy and Geoff likes darker colors a little more. So, it’s always interesting to see what we actually like when it’s placed in front of us in completed form.
But we did find a list of things we could both agree on.
~ Likes ~
Hidden pantry doors ~ Ya know, the ones that look like a floor to ceiling cabinet in the kitchen?
Stainless Steel Appliances ~ They just look better than white or black
Simple Floor Plan ~ I get dizzy really easily and if the floor plan isn’t simple, I get frustrated real fast
Jack and Jill Bathrooms ~ The shower and toilet in one room in the middle and then 2 separate sinks with separate doors on either side
Big Tub in Master Bath with separate Shower ~ Ah, what good is a tub if you can’t even fit in it!?
2 Shower Heads ~ The more, the better!
Big Garage ~ To keep all of Geoff’s RC hobby stuff and to fit both cars
~ Dislikes ~
Too many finishes and/or weird finishes ~ There were a couple houses that had every single finish you could think of. Can you say overload!?
Farm House Sinks ~ I know, I know. Everybody LOVES a farmhouse sink. …NOPE, not us. How do you do dishes with 1 huge sink!?
Side Garages ~ Ya know, where you have to pull out in anything but a straight line?
Confusing Floor Plans ~ Too many rooms, too close together, too much wasted space
Stainless Steel Showers ~ There was one house that every single shower was stainless steel. You walk in a feel like you’re in an elevator. aaaaahhhhh!!!!!!! Scariest thing ever.
