How to set up your wedding budget

Okay okay, I know that talking about money and budgets is not the most fun thing in the world. But I promise you, setting up your wedding budget will make wedding planning SO much easier and less stressful!!! So, I thought I would give you some tips on How to set up your wedding budget!

The first step is to calculate the amount you’ve already set aside and talk to family/friends who you know are also willing to help with wedding expenses. Conversations about money are sometimes awkward and hard. Asking for help is never easy. But I promise, if you have these hard conversations at the beginning of your planning process, you will be SO much happier planning your wedding! Having a number set for your total wedding budget will really help you to narrow down your vendors, set expectations and help you to stay organized!

Your next step is to get your budget written down! My suggestion is Sarah Tapp Photo + Events Wedding Budget Template which you can download for FREE with code FREE23 or Every Dollar’s Wedding Budget Template. These are just 2 ways for how to set up your wedding budget that might be helpful! Really, it doesn’t matter how it’s set up, as long as you can read and understand it and it’s written down (or typed) somewhere! haha. Having your budget laid out like this really gives you a visual for where you are spending your money, how much you’ve already invested and how much you have left to invest.

My third tip is to stay within your budget!!! This may seem like a no-brainer, but sometimes staying within your budget for your wedding can be really hard. If you’re anything like me, you’ve been planning your wedding since your were 12 years old (maybe even before then) and compromising on your vision can be disappointing. … But I strongly believe that you can plan your dream wedding on any budget. You just have to get a little creative and not be afraid to ask for help! Setting your priorities can also help a ton. If the dress and venue are the most important to you, then if you have to, you can spend more on those things and find ways to cut costs in catering and florals. Decide what is most important to you and focus on that!

I hope that these tips on How to set up your wedding budget will help you in your wedding planning process!
