In a world filled with millions of people posting online and even more businesses trying to stand out on social media – it can be difficult to find the perfect wedding vendors! Whether you’re looking for a hairstylist, wedding planner, or elopement photographer! As a PNW elopement photographer and event planner, I understand how intense the online hunt can be for crucial vendors for your big day. Throughout my years of experience in the wedding industry, I’ve narrowed my list to helping couples find the perfect vendors for their day. Let’s dive in!
One of the biggest mistakes you can make when booking an elopement photographer is hiring someone who isn’t an actual business! There are many reasons why hiring a professional is essential, but here are a few I’ll highlight. First, structuring their photography as a business protects them and you. They’ll more than likely have contracts in place that outline what both parties can expect. They’ll also have tons of experience in the field, which can put you at ease. While some friends or family may offer to shoot your wedding, finding someone with experience as a wedding photographer is essential. Throughout your wedding day, you don’t want to worry about your family member getting those pretty detailed shots or having a rainy day backup plan. Nevertheless, finding a PNW elopement photographer who is a legal business with experience should be at the top of the list!
You may read this and think that it isn’t a big deal if their values are a little different, but it is! While searching for your photographer, research what’s important to them. Do they prioritize the couple and get to know them before the wedding day? Or do they show up and take pictures? What about taking the time to understand what’s important to you? Do they have strong views that could make for an uncomfortable experience? Do they give you posing directions or are they more of a fly on the wall? When finding your dream PNW elopement photographer, be picky and find someone who understands you and shares similar values. Often, it makes for a more enjoyable, comfortable experience for everyone involved.
Last, don’t be afraid to ask to see more of their portfolio! Just like you and I, photographers will post the best of the best on their social platforms. Who wouldn’t?! While searching through the sea of photographers, look on their websites and blogs. Get a feel for how they capture a wedding day. If they don’t have a blog or enough photos on their website for you to decide, reach out and ask for a full gallery. Photographers won’t be offended and will be thrilled you’re interested in their services! Before booking them for your wedding day, you must feel confident in their work and abilities.
While there is no recipe or one-size-fits-all method for finding vendors for your dream team, hopefully, these tips make the process a little bit easier! Also, don’t be afraid to ask any booked vendors for recommendations! Often, couples ask for my suggestions to help save time and find the perfect people. Lean on your vendors. We’re here to help!
