The Nursery | Sarah’s Story | Idaho Wedding Photographer | Sarah Tapp Photography
When I found out that we were having a baby girl I was SO excited! I had secretly always wanted a girl first. But, I was a little bummed because we are in a rental house so I knew I couldn’t paint or really change much. Well, I was talking to my landlord one day and when she found out that I was having a baby she told me I could do whatever I wanted with that room!!!
YAY! So, I started planning. I’m not a super girly girl and I hate pink. So, I knew I didn’t want pink in my daughter’s room. haha. One day I was looking through some of my craft stuff and found the lace tablecloths from my wedding and I thought, ‘It would be so cool if I could make the colors in our daughter’s room what our wedding colors were!’. Our wedding colors were peach, mint, and olive. So, I was trying to figure out how those colors would work in a nursery…and they didn’t. But, I went to look at paint samples one day and switched the peach out for purple and it was SO CUTE!!!!! I thought it was perfect! Because purple is still girly, but not pink! haha. So, I set out painting her room purple. My mom and sister helped me re-upholster a glider that my sister passed down to me and then my husband made a shelving unit for the closet and I painted everything! My mom even made Adalynn an amazing quilt out of the colors!
I know it may seem like a little thing, being able to paint and decorate a nursery, but it helped me so much. I was pretty antsy during my pregnancy so it helped to pass the time and it helped me to be ready for this sweet baby girl that was coming into our lives. To this day, I love sitting in her nursery and taking pride in the fact that I made everything with my own hands. =)
