Raquel Awerkamp Desgins based in Idaho Falls Idaho is not only an amazing designer but also an incredible artist! When I asked Raquel when and why she started her business, she said, ‘I started doing freelance work in January 2020. I was working for a small startup company that suddenly went under, my husband had just started a masters program in Healthcare Administration and we were expecting our first baby girl. I graduated with a bachelors in Graphic Design thinking that one day I could work from home as a stay at home mom. Now was the time to put my skills to use! It was exciting right out of the gate. The first logo I designed for a client ended up on a storefront in provo along with banners and other marketing materials I designed for them. It was very exciting for me to see my small freelance business being so successful right from the start’. Raquel said that one of her favorite parts of her business is ‘the creative process. [She’s] been drawing ever since [she] was a little girl and ha[s] a real love of art. Graphic Design … is another artform: taking someone’s initial ideas and organizing them into something beautiful. Christina Tiffany Design Co is based in Twin Falls Idaho and when asked about starting her business she said, ‘The first wedding invitation suite I created was for my own wedding in 2017. I absolutely fell in love with the entire process and then I created a few invitations for friends and families weddings and birthdays before finally launching Christina Tiffany Design Co. in 2020′. She ‘design[s] and print[s] bespoke wedding paperie (paper good and invitation suites)’. Christina’s favorite part of her business is ‘getting to know [her] couples and seeing their unique love story and personality come to life in their invitations (the first glimpse of their wedding [that] their guests will see) and then all the details throughout their wedding’. Christina Tiffany Design Co has pricing ranging from about $3.50-$10 per invitation but is always willing to work with a couples budget! She can also ship anywhere in the country and likes to start the invitation process with her couples 6-8 months before their wedding! When I asked Christina what her best advice to couples planning their wedding is, she said ‘I love my DIY brides! But be careful to not stretch yourself too thin. The wedding preparation season should be sweet and fun but I have seen many brides that take on too many projects and end up stressed out, overwhelmed, and sometimes even over budget.
