The Engagement | My Love Story | Idaho Wedding Photographer | Sarah Tapp Photography

I’m a pretty picky person so ring shopping seemed to go on forever! I finally narrowed it down to 3 rings and I told Geoff to pick and I would be happy with any of them. Well…he kept asking me which one I liked best and I kept trying to get him to pick. haha. And then the waiting began.
I knew he wanted to propose for real when he got the ring but it seemed to be taking forever! Well, Geoff and I had a date planned one evening after I got off work. So, I worked in Rexburg at the time and I got off work at 5. I drove home to Rigby and then I was going to meet Geoff at his house and then go on our date. But after I got ready I realized that he should be picking me up since this was a date! So, I texted him and said, ‘Aren’t you supposed to pick me up for dates?’ and he said ‘You will see’. Which made no sense at all! So, I started to get suspicious. And the whole way to his house, I was thinking, there’s no way he’s going to propose to me at his house. He’s way classier than that.
Well, when I got there his car was gone, but I didn’t think much of it. I walked inside and normally Geoff would be there right by the door but he wasn’t. So…I stood there for a minute and got ready to text him to ask where he was and then his mom came out and handed me a manilla envelope. So I opened it and there was a piece of paper with a scripture on it and then a clue to go to a friends house.
And so it began. I went to the friends house and she invited me in and started talking to me and I was SO confused. I had no idea what was going on. lol. Finally, she hands me an envelope and it has another scripture. This one was about obedience. Then she handed me a present and said, ‘Don’t open it now, you’ll need it later’. And then she tells me to go to the testing center on campus in Rexburg. AHHH! I was JUST in Rexburg. So, I start driving back to Rexburg.
And when I get to the testing center, another friend is there with another envelope. This one also had a scripture about being faithful and a quote from President Hinckley. So..that was my next clue. I went to the Hinckley building next and there was another friend with another envelope. And by this point I knew that I was going to be proposed to soon. But Geoff wasn’t at any of these places! So, I kept thinking, Okay, he’ll be at the next place. haha.
Well…after the Hinckley building I went to the gardens on campus and there was another friend with another clue. This time it said to go to the temple. So I parked and started walking towards the spot the clue said to go to with my present in hand.
And there he was, standing in the middle of the field. When I got to him he said ‘Well, did I surprise you?’. I said yes and asked him if I was supposed to open the present. So, I opened it and by this point I knew it was the ring. So I finally got it opened and he took it from me and said, ‘Before I do this, I need you to know that his isn’t going to end. It’s forever’. I said, ‘I know’. And then he got down on one knee and asked me to be his eternal companion. And I said YES!
